Lily Knows Best: Hair Q&A with Lily

Lily Lane is a founder of Lily’s Virgin Hair Company. However, Lily is also a hair care enthusiast who is interested in hair growth and care. Check out Lily answers to some of her customers most frequently asked questions about hair care below!

Q: My hair is always dry! How can I keep my hair moisturized under my extensions?

Lily: It is important to keep your hair moisturized, whether you have a wig, weave or braids in your hair. Dry hair is more likely to break off and that is something you do not want to happen. I suggest getting a small water bottle, fill it half way with water and the other hair with a hair serum (hair oil), take this mixture and spray in between your extension each night before wrapping your hair. This will ensure that your hair will remain moisturized and that that moisture will also be locked in.

Q: What type of protective styles should I wear my hair in to gain hair growth?

Lily: Hair growth starts with taking care of your own hair. Protective styles are a good way to let your hair rest and to make sure your hair is not exposed to too much heat or moisture. I suggest wigs or box braids as a protective style. Wigs are easy to take on and off and allow you to wash your hair and take care of your own hair on a daily basis. It also allows you to switch up your hairstyle as much as you want. Box braids are also a good protective style because they last for a long time but they also help with hair growth. The one thing about box braids you have to careful of is how tight the braids are done. Make sure that the braids are not too tight that they are pulling your edges.

Q: How long does your virgin hair last?

Lily: This has to be one of the most common questions I get but there is a simply answer, it all depends on how you take care of the hair. Virgin hair is unprocessed hair that can be manipulated in many ways, however that still means that you have to take care of the hair just as well as you take care of our own hair. That means washing and c0-washing the hair at least once a week, not applying too much heat on the hair, and wrapping the hair every night before your go to bed. Taking care of your virgin extensions will ensure that your hair will last for at lease 6 months to a year.
